On the occasion of the International Day of the Girl Child 2024, Iran Autism Association stands in solidarity with girls around the world and celebrates their dreams, resilience and vision for a brighter, more inclusive future. This year’s theme “Girls’ Vision for the Future” is closely aligned with our mission to ensure that every girl, including those on the autism spectrum, has the opportunity to realize her full potential.
Girls are powerful agents of change, and their unique perspectives are critical to shaping a future that is inclusive, equitable and just. However, for many girls with autism, there are still barriers that limit their access to education, healthcare and social opportunities. These challenges are exacerbated by misconceptions and the stigma surrounding autism. This can prevent girls from being fully accepted and understood in their communities.
At the Iran Autism Association, we believe that every girl, regardless of her abilities, has the right to pursue her vision for the future. We are committed to promoting awareness, support and advocacy for policies that enable girls with autism to lead independent, fulfilling lives. Through our education programs, advocacy work and partnerships, we work to create a society where girls with autism can thrive, express themselves and contribute meaningfully to their communities.
On this important day, we call on governments, organizations and communities to prioritize the needs of girls with disabilities, especially those on the autism spectrum. Let us break down the barriers of discrimination and exclusion and work together to create a world where all girls’ visions for the future can be realized.
Together, we can ensure that all girls, regardless of their circumstances, are heard, valued and supported as they imagine and create the futures they deserve.
